Gunta Stolzl grew up in Bavaria, Germany.
She was an artist who specialised in weaving.
Gunta went to a famous German Art and Craft college called the ‘Bauhaus’ in which she started to learn about weaving. She was talented in this area and she worked hard at it.
Gunta soon became a weaving master and teacher in the Bauhaus.

She was the only female master in the college at that time. But she did not get paid as well as the men because she was a woman. Thankfully life has improved for women nowadays.
