On Friday the 29th April, the 6th Class students of Newtownmountkennedy Primary School made their Confirmation in St Joseph’s Church. The service was led by Monsignor Dan O’Connor, who was assisted by Canon Smith and Fr Daly.
Sixth Class had been preparing for their Confirmation for months, making decorations and reading stories. They worked on a special book that was handed up as part of the gifts, and made flames and posters for the service. It was beautifully put together, and fit the occasion perfectly. The vibrant colours against the Church’s clean white wall looked amazing and everything in the service was great.
The service was a good one, with the Monsignor making sure everyone enjoyed themselves by joking and telling stories. The choir sang, prayers were said and the children were confirmed. Communion continued as per usual and the ceremonies were completed.
After the service, all the children and their families talked and took photos and went their separate ways. Some went to eat, some went to celebrate and some went home with plans for later.
All the children had a lovely day and had made their next big step in their Christian faith.
